What is the most popular type of reward credit cards these days? Almost everyone would agree that the answer to this question is cash-back reward credit cards. The reason for this is that these cards offer unique perks to cardholders, in the form of cash incentives.
In cash-back credit card programs, you can expect to receive a percentage of the total amount you have charged on your plastic card. This will surely make you feel as if you earn cash by simply spending and paying your purchases, bills and other expenses.
However, not all consumers are well aware of how cash-back reward credit cards work. So today, we have decided to discuss with our readers some basic information about these cards.
How Cash-Back Credit Cards Work
With a cash-back credit card, you can expect to receive a small portion of the total amount which you have charged on your card. This credit card rewards you with cash in any of these three ways: you receive cash rebates which will be electronically deposited onto your savings or checking account; you receive additional credit to your reward credit card; or you receive a check that shows all the cash you have earned through your plastic card.
Not only that. You can also redeem your rewards for shopping discounts, free items and services, free reservations in hotel and airlines and even through charitable donations to your chosen foundation. And the more frequent you charge your purchases and bills on your card, the bigger rebates and cash incentives you can expect.
Still, it is worth mentioning that not all cash-back reward credit card programs are the same. The basic difference among most cash-back reward programs lies in the rate of rebates. You can expect to receive rates that range between 0.25% to 5% depending on the reward credit card you will take out.
Tips on Using Reward Credit Cards
Now let us discuss tips that will help you maximize the credit card rewards you can receive from your plastic card.
- Determine the expiration dates imposed on your earned points. It is very important that you determine when your points or cash rewards will expire. This way, you can redeem them on time. Remember that you paid money to earn your points. So to avoid wasting the money you have invested to earn them, always bear in mind the importance of redeeming your points before they expire and vanish.
- Pay your charge completely and prudently. You need to remind yourself that to maintain good credit standing you need to pay your credit charges on-time and in full each month. So resolve to employ good credit habits all the time.
- Check out the other benefits and perks of your reward credit card. See to it that you are well-aware of the other benefits and incentives which you can receive from your cash-back credit card program, such as insurance policies, travel rewards etc. This will help ensure that you will get the most from your reward credit card.

The Semiramis, Athens Be Travel Savvy Hidden Gem
By Hemant S
The Travel Trade Secrets Blog Be Travel Savvy throw the spotlight on a cool, modern hotel in an ancient city
When you’re choosing a city break hotel, it’s natural to want to be in the thick of it. Who wants to spend hours of a short getaway trekking to and from the centre of town? With a bit of research, however, checking into a hotel on the periphery could be a wise choice. Our latest Hidden Gem is an affordable design classic in the chic Athenian suburb of Kifissia.
With just 51 rooms, including rooftop suites and poolside villas, the Semiramis is relatively small. It’s designed by Karim Rashid, who’s renowned for his clean style with a distinctive, zesty streak. Lime green balconies light up at night and the lobby’s shot with dashes of cerise and orange. Here’s an impressive, contemporary hotel that doesn’t cost a fortune.
The Semiramis looks great but it offers far more than good form - the hotel features LCD TVs, a generous ‘Maxi’ bar, top-notch service, a pool, nightly DJ, massage, free Wi-Fi and even babysitting on request. The location’s not bad either - it might not be in the centre of town, but it’s in a quiet spot overlooking a park and the Metro whisks you into downtown Athens in around fifty minutes. There’s a great restaurant on site, but you’ll also find a good choice nearby. Kifissia is leafy and cool with a relaxed ambience - this is the perfect place to retreat after a hard day’s sightseeing.
Athens is a must-do city break that’s best visited in autumn to avoid the scorching heat. As well as iconic sights like the Parthenon and traditional tavernas in Plaka, you’ll find all the galleries, museums, shopping and bars that you’d expect from a capital city. It’s a great destination for a stylish stag or hen weekend with and perfect for a quick romantic getaway. The Semiramis is a savvy place to stay and is surprisingly affordable too. We’ve got a great deal through Hays Travel that would make a brilliant Christmas shopping break or original travel idea for something to look forward to as winter draws in

An Overview of the St. Kitts Music Festival
By Homer Molina
For the eleventh consecutive summer, St. Kitts will welcome some of the world’s biggest musical acts for a three-day festival. Though the small island of St. Kitts might seem a strange destination for an internationally renowned music festival, this exotic local has consistently lured top talents. Representing a wide variety of musical styles, past performers at the St. Kitts Music Festival include The Temptations, Chaka Khan, Wyclef Jean, Eve, Busta Rhymes, Hugh Masekala and Kenny Rogers.
This year’s festival - scheduled for June 21-23 - will feature plenty of award-winning artists, but a unique focus sets the event apart from stateside festivals. Since the beginning, the St. Kitts Music Festival has been committed to showcasing the finest talent from not only the island, but throughout the Caribbean. Hence, you will be exposed to exotic sounds that can’t be found at home.
An example of this Caribbean flavor is the Small Axe Band, a native St. Kittian reggae collective performing on Thursday. Besides being recognized as the “best local reggae band” since 1980, Small Axe Band has been a longtime favorite of festival-goers. In fact, these St. Kittian legends performed at the first St. Kitts Music Festival in 1996. Led by the energetic Livingstone Samuel, Small Axe Band consistently wows the crowd despite being virtually unknown outside the Caribbean. Also on Thursday, be sure to catch Machel Montano HD - one of the world’s most popular soca performers.
Even some of the headlining acts are native to the Caribbean, despite selling millions of records throughout the world. On Friday, the lineup features three incredibly popular acts - all of which produce unique takes on the Caribbean sound. Lady Saw, recognized as “the queen of dance hall,” has long been committed to the traditions of Jamaican music. However, she has also won a Grammy for a triple-platinum collaboration with Gwen Stefani, worked with Missy Elliot and performed extensively across the globe.
Following Lady Saw on Friday’s lineup will be Steel Pulse - one of the world’s most popular reggae bands - and Sean Paul - the chart-topping dance hall artist. Though the members of Steel Pulse and Sean Paul are all residents of Jamaica, the lineup represents a unique contrast of styles - a meeting of traditional reggae and the cutting edge of today’s popular music scene.
While Friday’s program provides a star-studded list of Caribbean-based artists, Saturday boasts a lineup that would make many stateside festivals jealous. The final day of the festival opens with two artists rooted in Caribbean musical tradition. Much like Friday’s lineup, a pair of unique Caribbean styles will be on display. Jazzique, an incredibly gifted Caribbean jazz musician, will open Saturday’s festivities on a smooth note. Following Jazzique is Maxi Priest, the world’s most popular solo reggae artist behind the legendary Bob Marley.
Later in the day, the festival will feature a trio of Grammy-recognized solo artists. First among these headliners is Ne-Yo - a platinum selling R&B artist currently signed to Def Jam Records. Next to take the stage is Michael Bolton, a name and voice known
throughout the world. Having won numerous awards and sold out arenas across the globe, Bolton brings his soothing sound to the relaxed environment of St. Kitts for the first time. Big Boi - one half of superstar rap duo Outkast - will end the festival on an energetic note.
The St. Kitts Music Festival is centrally located in Basseterre, the capital of the island. With many of the most popular resorts and restaurants located within walking distance - and many more just a short shuttle ride away - a night at the St. Kitts Music Festival is the perfect addition to a Caribbean vacation.
Including the popular performers mentioned above and many others, here is the complete schedule for the festival.
