You have decided to rent an apartment in Paris for a few days up to 90 days, for holiday or for business, so you should know Paris characteristics in the field of short-term rental in Paris.
Which district?
Living in a comfortable furnished apartment in Paris, you will have a real taste of Parisian life, and appreciate the typical and historical character of the district of your choice, its monuments, museums, cafes, and walks in parks.
Rent in Paris to a price that fits to your budget and stay in the historical heart of Paris, about from the 1st to the 8th district, and of course the Montmartre district : “la vie en rose” is right there…
But be careful! Tourists districts are very requested, so you should prepare a more important budget. But if you look for an apartment on several specialized websites, you should be able to find a good price-district ratio.
The most requested districts are definitely Le Marais, St-Germain, St Michel (3-4-5-6th districts), then the Louvre and Beaubourg les halles (1st et 2nd districts), followed by the Invalides and the Champs-Elysees (7 et 8th districts), and of course the great Montmartre district, at the top of the 18th district.
What price?
You can easily rent an apartment in Paris to a reasonable price, that would give you the chance to enjoy the capital city. Compared to a hotel, short-term rental in a furnished apartment is very profitable from 2 people and for more than 2 days.
Rent a quality furnished apartment, find the accomodation of your choice in a nice district, in a picturesque, bustling or quiet street, a functional and conviniently furnished studio, something cheap enough to enjoy recreation, shows, entertainment, walks and charms of Paris.
Rental prices are around 80-90 euros a night for a quite good quality studio that sleeps 2 people. Of course, the price depends on the district and the quality of the apartment and therefore may double. The average prices are between 150 and 200 euros a night for 4 people and between 300 and 350 a night up to 6 people.
The security deposit is set by the owner and its amount is variable. The tenant gets it back before his departure, minus the potential damage caused.
What kind of apartment ?
Usually, the apartment is fully equipped with linens, towels, kitchen ustensils, etc… You will be able to cook and live as if you were at home during your stay. The household, which is often included in the price of your stay, must be done before you get into the apartment. You will have to leave the apartment clean before leaving as well.
- Bedding
Choose the apartment according to the number of people that it sleeps. If you have to take an apartment with a sofa bed, consider its quality : some have a very good quality, others don’t. Most sofa beds are from 1,20 meter to 1,50 meter wide. Separate bedrooms are preferable.
Beds have generally a good quality, but only a few are King size beds. In France, width is measured in meter. They usually are around 1,60-1,80 meter wide and around 1,90-2,00 meter long.
- Floor
In France, the 1st floor is just above the ground floor.
If the apartment is located above the 3rd floor, it is better to have an elevator. Generally, elevators are quite narrow in old buildings.
- Calm
Though most bedrooms overlook a street (more or less crowded), you will easily be able to find an apartment in Paris with a main bedroom overlooking a quiet couryard.
- Air-Conditioning
It is not very necessary to have air-conditioning in Paris except in July and August, but more and more people want to have it, if only to enjoy some peace and quiet. Even if air-conditioning is not very used yet in our beautiful city, more and more apartments are equipped.
How can you look for an apartment ?
Nowadays, you can easily look for an accomodation in Paris with Internet : you can use a search engine, and type, for example, ” Paris Saint-Germain short-term rental apartments “; you will get a list of specialized professional agencies.
Then, you will only have to choose the most famous ones, that are generally on first page, and follow the different instructions on their respective websites. It is better to choose an agency located in France in case of necessity, and whose name is clearly mentionned on its website (link Contact us). It is also better if this agency is a member of Paris Tourist Center.
When should you book your apartment ?
Book if possible in advance, up to a year is possible, but not too long. You will have a vast choice and recommendations from the agency if you can book your apartment in the low season. If you like an apartment, feel free to contact the agency to have some further information : they can give you some advice about the quality of the apartment or about the district and reassure you about your stay.
Why should you book through a specialized agency ?
Your stay in Paris is of the highest importance, that is why everything has to be organized, so that your stay is not spoilt by a tiny bit.
When you consult an agency website selected by your navigator, you need to look at the Guestbook : customers’ testimonies, as well as former customers’ grades, must be carefully considered in order to choose your apartment. It is a real source of information. Feel free to ask the agency of the apartment that you have chosen.
The payment is made in totally secured conditions. Indeed, all professional agency websites have a secured payment system on line, and therefore your private data is protected; only the bank knows your credit card data. To be sure, you can check that the address of the website does begin with ” https “, and has a padlock icon in the bottom right-hand corner. In case of cancellation, professionals usually suggest a cancellation insurance with the casualty insurance (fire, flood), which is obligatory in France for tenants. The liability insurance of the latter is generally included in their own insurance.
Conclusion
You have now chosen your apartment, which corresponds to your dates, district, surface area, floor, bedding, it’s calm and fitting to your budget. Don’t forget to get your security deposit back before leaving. If the agency offers to pay it by credit card, it will only make a footprint on your account and your money won’t be debited from it.

Travel Sites Can Help You On Your Annual Vacation
By Michael Hehn
We all love our annual vacation but there are those that never go too far from home and then you find the adventurous types that will travel the world. But, wherever you want to travel to, you can guarantee there will be a travel site that can give you details on every location. Let’s face it, when you can book whatever vacation you like using a website, why bother going to a travel agent. Generally travel agents cannot compete, at least financially, with the wealth of sites that can offer amazing discounts.
It may seem strange but I do not fully trust using the internet to arrange my vacation. However, I am still of the old school and prefer to sit down with a cup of coffee and plan my vacation with a professional, face to face. A travel agent will also fully expect changes to be made during the booking process and can be more flexible in their approach including when there are problems. The problem I find with travel sites is there is no-one to speak to and I find this very impersonal; if you are fortunate enough to find someone to speak with they may be in another country for all you know.
Even if you are lucky enough to talk to a person, how do you know they are telling you the truth about the situation? It is this fear of the problems that can occur and if they do happen it is too late that prevents me from being more trusting in the way that I trust my travel agent. One of my friends only ever uses the travel sites to book her vacations but she does like the last minute discounts that can be found which are much easier to find using the internet. When last minute vacations come up, you can end up saving a lot of money and she’s gotten some wonderful vacations for almost half the cost.
It would be nice to do this but my career does not allow for impulsive travel arrangements. Using a travel site does have other advantages as well because while you can save money on the vacation itself, there are also savings to be made on additional excursions and trips as well if pre-booked. Knowing a little about what you want and information about the location you want to travel too can be useful so I still research as much of this as I can online before I pay my travel agent a visit. I know it may seem unkind after all the help that my travel agent has given me but I know that if I have problems that need correcting when I return, it is easy to go along and see her to have sorted out.

How to achieve effective Rodent Control-00-1062
By 4Ps_Marketing
Rodents, such as rats and mice, are a major pest because of the disease they transmit and the damage they cause.
All rodents must gnaw regularly to keep their continually growing incisor teeth at a manageable length. Unfortunately, 1 in 15 food premises are rat infested, higher still for mice. They live in colonies of extended families and are capable of rapid reproduction. Rodents usually feed at night and consume up to 10% of their body weight daily. It is also common to see them collecting food during the day.
Damage and Food Contamination by Rodents
Rodents can cause extensive damage to properties through there habits. Damage is caused by gnawing woodwork, pipes, and wires, as well as an endless variety of stored commodities from paper to soap. This can lead to poor productivity as gnawed electrical wires can cause power failures and fires. As well as this, the burrowing of rodents often causes subsidence in roads, pavements and buildings.
Contamination accounts for 15% of worldwide food loss annually. It may take the form of partially eaten materials, ripped packaging and spillage as well as the presence of urine, rodents hairs, droppings and smell.
Disease carried by Rodents
Weils Disease or Leptospiral Jaundice is a rat borne disease. Bacteria causing it, live in the rats kidneys and are transferred in the urine. They pass into the new host through cuts or by swallowing infected water, and urine soaked materials. 60% of British rats carry the bacteria. Rat Bite Fever may be contracted if bitten by a rat. Brucellosis Salmonellosis (food poisoning) and plague are other examples. Salmonellosis bacteria can be transferred on the animals feet or in their droppings.
Plague (Pasteurella bacteria) is normally transmitted by rodent parasites such as fleas, when they bite other animals, including man.
Prevention of Prosecution
Under the Prevention of Damage by Pests it is an offence to knowingly harbour rodents in any premises and you can be prosecuted.
Brown Rat (Rattus Norvegicus)
This is the most abundant of the three common rodent pests in the UK, and can be found anywhere offering food, water and shelter. It is the species found breeding in rivers, fields, buildings and sewers. They like to feed under cover. A rapid breeder with 3-6 litters per year of a litter size of 8, they are sexually mature at 10-12 weeks. Signs of activity include well marked travelling routes, gnawing marks and greasy smears left on walls, pipes and around floor joists, against which they habitually brush. They are neophobic and therefore cautious with new objects and food sources.
Black Rat (Rattus Rattus)
This rat is now rare in this country and most commonly confined to shipping ports and coastal areas. Also known as the ship rat, it is historically infamous as the carrier of the plague flea. Smaller and more agile than the Brown rat, it is equally omnivorous with a preference for fruit and spices.
House Mouse (Mus Domesticus)
Living mainly indoors, mice are difficult to exclude as they squeeze through gaps as small as 7mm. Omnivorous feeders but preferring cereals and nuts, water is not vital as they derive moisture from the food they consume.
They tend to feed by taking small, multiple amounts and quickly loose interest in one food source. Pillars of dirt, grease and urine are sometimes found along habitually used runways. Mice urinate constantly and defecate around 80 times a day, rats 40 times. With a litter size of 4-11 they litter 7-8 times a year. A pair of mice and their offspring can produce about 2000 individuals in a year.
